#1 Overall Seeds

Well, well, well, your #1 seeds have the rock solid Pennzoil machine from the 80’s and three from the 90’s. No surprise with Greg Moore’s Players livery. Just a perfect combination of color and lines. Target with one of the most unique use of a 2 color layout with lightning bolts and the fan favorite and last years Livery Madness winner Tecate.

#2 Seeds

Some may say the two seeds are just as strong as the one seeds but the Highlife is the best use of Gold in a livery ever. Marlboro is just an iconic and simply livery. Kool has sunning lines and a use of green that has not been matched since. Motorola’s nose was the most visible car on television in the late 90’s.

#3 Seeds

It’s a shame it was so slow because the Castrol Eagle is one of the hottest liveries of all time. The Eagle nose was perfectly matched to the 99 eagle. Dominos grabs a three seed with a unique use of vertical color separation (and an Indy 500 win). MGD was an elite 8 finalist last year and will again be tough to beat while the Rahal owned Shell ride of Bryan Herta is a fan favorite.

#4 Seeds

The Tony Kanaan 7-11 livery may be the first one that comes to mind when you think of the IRL. It leverage good use of lines on a rather poorly designed chassis. Kracos blue and yellow are a perfect combination along with the big rear wing, you could not miss it on TV. McDonalds comes in with using the famous arches as part of the car design. Brilliant. Our first 1970’s livery comes in the hands of Al Unser and his Johnny Lightning special leveraging the lightning bolts through the cockpit.

#5 Seeds

Duracell was the surprise of the 2018 tournament knocking off several major contenders to an Elite 8 run. Does it have another deep run in it? STP was made iconic with the 1982 Indy 500 win but its placement of colors along the body work made for a great scheme. Valvoline had several liveries that could be “bests” but the 1992 livery was iconic (like 82). It is Indycar. The same year was also history with the super fast Quaker State machine which infamously didn't take the green flag.

#6 Seeds

Bright colors dominated the 6 seeds with the LCI and Brahma machines leading the way. A disappointing 2018 tournament though for both will try to redeem themselves this year. Jim Beam/Klein Tools just meshed well with that body style and Sunoco produced a simple and iconic paint scheme for the second 1970’s entrant.

#7 Seeds

The seven seeds are probably your least known liveries of the tournament...but look at them. So uniquely done and just perfect for their chassis. Gatorade with its use of “2”... Purex’s perfect lines going to the rear wing, Hollywood’s sharp breaks and Mac Tools simply perfect yellow and white combination. Will be interesting to see if their liveries can overcome their popularity?

#8 Seeds

Our first and only DP-01 in the field has the Aussie Vineyards machine from 2007. Meanwhile the SKOAL Bandit driven by John Andretti and the Al Unser Norton are 80’s classics. Telefonica hopes to rebound from a poor showing last year with the most unique color in the tourney.

#9 Seeds

This is your “solid color” row. With a dominate use of one single color in the McLaren 70’s, Hanna 80’s, the Copenhagen of the early 90's and the Havoline of the late 90’s. Tough first round matchups vs the 8 seeds but could we see a deep run from one of these classics?

#10 Seeds

Two new entrants with the Coors Scott Dixon version from 2002. Mariop Andretti’s Beatrice machine brings in the blue line separators perfectly. Tony Kanaans Pioneer livery just looked fast on that chassis and the Porsche Teo Fabi just looked right. Can any win their first round matchup?

#11 Seeds

The Jorgensen Special from the 70’s has the retro nose while the Gold and Black Provimi was the John Players Special version of an Indycar. Two of our current Indycar liveries make the best use of the DW-12 chassis with NAPA and Sealmaster.

#12 Seeds

The IRL dominates the 12 seeds with the William Rast Dan Wheldon 2011 Indy winner leading the way. Red Bull was so clear with the nose and bold lettering. Delphi has perfect highlights and the Glidden Menards machine was so easy to spot.

#13 Seeds

The south of the border seeds with BCN’s use of the Brazilian flag leading the way. Corona is underrated mostly because of the results of the car but it matched the Lola Champ Car perfectly. Herdez use of the chili pepper on the nose and Gigante (both Michel Jourdain driven) will be fan favorites. Any of these could make a deep run if they can get past the first round.

#14 Seeds

An all 80’s and 70’s row here with. The Viceroy Parnelli Jones was 70’s with bits a pieces sticking up everywhere. Scott Braytons Amyway made great use of parallel lines while Danny Ongais’ all black interscope will be a fan favorite. And how about that Labatts livery? A newcomer into #LiveryMadness.

#15 Seeds

The Stars and Stripes row with liveries all leverage some use of stars. Scott Pruett’s Firestone may be the most memorable. However, the Evil Knievel 70’s ride was just awesome. The late Jeff Krosnoff and Max Papis drove the MCI machine while Tom Sneva in the Texaco Star brought an 80’s feel to a simple livery. Could we see a first round upset in any of these?

#16 Seeds

Your final row here with the AJ Foyt Coyote Gilmore from the 70’s leading hte way. The GoDaddy machine was just too visually stimulating to not make the tournament and the same goes for the Buyddy Lazier Delta Faucets of 1997. Roberto Guerreros True Value ride was just so clean.

Santino Ferrucci may be the one holding the off season cards at the moment... where will he end up for 2020?
